Recently, the British Monarchy created new Twitter and Instagram accounts called Kensington Palace, which is an account for all things Prince William, Duchess Catherine, Prince George and baby not yet born. For those of us who enjoy all things Will-and-Kate related, this is an exciting adventure! Behind the scenes photos?! Interesting, never-before-seen tidbits?! How exciting indeed!
However, in the wake of this new royals-official account, People Magazine released an article telling the Duke and Duchess what they should and should not do with the accounts. They shouldn’t post certain things, but they definitely should include others. Obviously it was a tongue-in-cheek type article, but it really got me thinking about what you and I do and post and share with our accounts, seeing as we’re members of God’s royal family.
In the past, I have done an episode of The Royal Family Podcast on how a royal should use social media. You can listen to that episode, called The Queen’s Tweet, here. Since I don’t really like to belabor points, I decided to take this week’s episode in a little different direction: instead of thinking about what we put out there on our social media accounts, I wanted to focus on what we take in from other social media accounts.
Throughout Scripture we are told that what is in our hearts is really our life. Actions are simply manifestations of our hearts. Words are simply manifestations of our hearts. So, to keep ourselves pure and unspotted from the world, we have to be people dedicated to guarding our hearts.
So that is what’s happening on this week’s episode of The Royal Family podcast. You can listen to it here on The Light Network’s website, or you can subscribe to The Light Network emails and get the episodes delivered straight to your inbox. To subscribe, simply click here.
Here’s an excerpt of today’s podcast:
Will and Kate don’t need to be reminded what to not post on Twitter. They need to be taught what to fill their hearts with. Only when we fill our hearts with the right things will appropriate things come out in our online personas. Only when we have hearts dedicated to seeking God will our social media accounts be pleasing to Him.
