Sorry, but today we’re skipping one and heading right into lovely!!
Oh, what’s that? You haven’t been following the study? Never fear! Here’s the verse we’ve been examining this week:
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things arejust, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Phil.4:8)
I don’t know about you, but when I hear the word lovely, I automatically think of women. Lovely just doesn’t strike me as a manly word. And so, today’s study will be all about women!
When was the last time you did a study on the women of the Bible? In my Sunday morning teenage girls class, we are walking through the women of the Bible, and it has been an amazing study for me (and hopefully I’m communicating some of that to the girls). I am so thankful that Scripture has preserved the accounts of so many faithful women of old that we can learn from. Women like Ruth, Esther, Mary, Abigail, and other unnamed ladies like the woman with the flow of blood and the widow with two mites to give. How amazing are these examples!!
If you are a woman, I urge you to spend some time today meditating on one woman of the Bible. For your ease, you can go to the sidebar of the website and under the ‘Pick a Topic’ tab, choose “LL”. There, you will come across multiple posts for woman of the Bible in the Leading Ladies series I have been doing for some time. If you will, pick one, and study her life. Examine her characteristics, and try to implement one into your daily walk. Truly Scripture is amazing, and has provided such rich detail for how we can live a life that is pleasing to God. As Paul urged us to meditate on things that were lovely, let us meditate today on woman who were so lovely that the Bible chose to include them for all of time!
